Paris, France: Parte Deux
After leaving Granada, we took a flight to tourist capital, Paris. There are many things I love about Paris (Fashion, Architecture, Macaroons!) but, there is one daunting thing that always makes me flinch when a trip to The City of lights is mentioned: The Metro.  Call me spoiled all you want but, after living 7 months in a city with a Metro system most of Europe envies, it’s a big shock...

Off to Nether Netherlands: Amsterdam, Rotterdam...
After eating more fries and chocolate humanly possible, we squeezed into a train and took a short one hour trip to the place stoners go after they die: Amsterdam Now, I know what you’re all thinking “Marijuana, Redlight District, bikes” but, prepare to be amazed. Amsterdam was my favorite place in the entire trip for many reasons. For starters, the whole marijuana industry in...

Granada, Spain: Morocco meets Spain
We began our trip a mere 7-hour bus ride from my magical Madrid to the city of Granada my second favorite city in Spain. Opting to take an overnight bus (for a measly 30 euro roundtrip!) we arrived at 6:30am, and headed to our amazing hostel, Oasis Backpacker’s Hostel to rest up before beginning our trek.  The first time I set foot on Granada was during the annual Semana Santa or holy...

El mes de maravillas: August 2011
Something strange occurs every August throughout most of Europe, especially in the Mediterranean. Flocks of residents abandon their homes, jobs and countries to participate in what I refer to as ” The best month of the year”. August is an unofficial month-long vacation for many countries and Spain is not only a participant but, it’s safe to say they lead the pack of...

Brussels, Belgium: Fries, Beer, Chocolate heaven
After our stop in Paris, we hopped on a bus and took a 3-hour trip to Brussels, Belgium. This was both of our first times in Belgium and were pleasantly surprised that their main attractions were both A: amazing food and B: Hilarious statues. Brussels gained a little spot in my wanderlust heart although things turned sour on our return stop in Brussels but, thats not the city’s fault. ...

Calles de Color: Street art
Decided to share my compiled pictures of street art I have been inspired by since January. The streets of Europe serve not only as a historian’s illustrated library but, as an artist’s canvas as well. I both admire and am inspired by the beauty you find on the streets.  -S Masterpieces in Madrid Tirso de Molina, Madrid Malasaña, Madrid Triball, Madrid Calle Fuencarral,...

The Second Tri-mester: Months 4-6
I told myself on the last post that I’d start posting regularly but, as you can see, I failed miserably. So, As I come to the end of month six, I figured it was due time to update you on my adventures in Madrid. They say the majority of fetal growth occurs during the second tri-mester of a pregnancy ( and just to clarify NO I am not pregnant). I saw the same thing happen to me during my...

The First Tri-mester: Months 1-3
I thought it was about time to actually blog while I’m here in Madrid. It may sound cliché but, it “seems like only yesterday” I was boarding my plane with tear-filled eyes and imagining how life would be across the pond. Since then, I have experienced possibly the most exciting three months ever. Unfortunately it has really made me less motivated to write and more motivated to...

The longest flight of my life
Ever wonder how authentic those vacations gone bad movies really are? well, I can now attest that they are nearly documentaries for some travelers ( i.e. ME) who endured the downward spiral of Travel tribulations. For starters, my flight from Orlando to Germany was delayed about 15 mins to board- not so bad, I thought. When it was finally time to board the Super-sized airplane from Lufthansa, I...

Tears, Fears and International Flights
The day I had been planning for all my life finally arrived and what do I feel? Well, for starters I am excited, scared, nervous, anxious, curious, flattered, exhausted, energized and above all happy with a tinge of sadness.  I thought I had be preparing myself to leave the ones I loved for months now, planning the trip, wardrobe, etc… however, when the morning arrived, I was nothing but...

So long, Farewell, Auf Wierdesen, Good-bye!
These past few weeks have felt like I have been riding the spinning tea cups as Disney over and over. The melange of emotions that have been brewing in my tummy were triggered when I was surprised with a farewell party thrown by my dear sisters and friends.  Where we ate, drank, sang karaoke and laughed our hearts out. Life is better with good friends on board  The Next day, My family threw...

The Final Countdown: 9 days and counting
Now that the Christmas holidays flew by, it can only mean one thing: Less than 10 days before my move!  Right now, I am feeling anxious, excited, nervous, sad, happy, nervous, ecstatic, excited, and did I mention nervous? My To-Do list has hit a record high and thanks to my youngest sister’s harassing  motivation I have it all written in a perfect list. Gotta love organized siblings!

End Credits: Last day At work
On Friday December 17th was my final day working at Univision Orlando. It was such a bitter sweet ending to the first portion of my “grown-up life” Back in January 2008, I had no idea that the internship I was about to embark on would lead to a full-time job full of life lessons and a few hard knocks. My day was spent as any other Friday except that I was saying good-bye as people left...

One Month to go
Today, December 7th 2010 marks exactly one month until I land safely at Madrid Barajas airport in Madrid, Spain. It is exactly one month from feeling my chest tighten as I meet with my Landlord at my new flat share and 30 days until I can truly say, I’m living my dream.  It doesn’t get much scarier than that thought.

Won't you be... my vecino?
Yesterday, my landlady FINALLY replied to me with the exact address of my piso. For my American friends, that means my apartment. I am quickly learning that my Woody Allen-neurotic-impatient ways will be getting a beating into submission with the laid back- Annie Hall- lifestyle of Madrileños. Immediately after receiving my address, I put it in my Google Maps and voila! I was virtually walking my...

The Decision
” You’re not small, you’re Travel-sized”- my sister, Chantelle. I like to think of myself as being born to travel the world. My parents conceived me on their European Honeymoon and almost named me Paris ( for the location of consumation, perhaps?) During college I briefly minored in Foreign languages concentrating on French and Italian. I love Bollywood movies, Indian...
